At ASEL (Agri-Solutions Enterprises Ltd), we take immense pride in seeing our partner estates succeed through sustainable and ethical farming practices. We are thrilled to celebrate the recent achievements of KiQwetu Coffee Ltd and Humkel Coffee Estates, who made a remarkable impact at Sale 30 of the Nairobi Coffee Exchange with their organic certified coffees.
According to KilimoNews in their recent feature on Sale 30: Certified Coffees, organic-certified lots made up a significant portion of the volume sold, with 21 lots totaling 1,183 bags (14,961 Kgs). This accounted for approximately 15% of total bags sold during the auction. What’s more impressive is that these organically certified coffees achieved strong market prices across various grades, underscoring the growing demand and value of sustainable coffee farming.
KiQwetu Coffee Ltd stood out as a clear leader in this space, delivering 122 bags of organically certified coffee across various grades and fetching an impressive average price of $325 per bag. This performance is not just a win for KiQwetu, but a testament to the value that sustainable farming and third-party certification bring to the table. Humkel Coffee Estates also contributed to this success, reinforcing the increasing recognition and reward for Kenya’s organic-certified producers.
Notable buyers of these top-tier certified coffees included international and regional powerhouses like C. Dormans SEZ Ltd, Louis Dreyfus Company, and Sasini (K) Limited, reflecting strong market confidence in organically produced Kenyan coffee.
Organic certification is more than a label—it is a commitment to farming without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. It supports environmental sustainability, soil regeneration, and biodiversity, while also opening up premium markets for farmers. It’s a win-win for producers and buyers alike, offering traceability, ethical sourcing, and quality assurance.
At ASEL, we continue to walk alongside estates like KiQwetu and Humkel, providing certification guidance, market linkages, and agronomic support as they build resilient, future-forward coffee enterprises. Their performance at Sale 30 reflects a broader shift in the specialty coffee market—one where sustainability meets profitability.
Congratulations to our certified partners for setting the bar high!
